Oil Plug Thread Repair Kit

PACKAGE CONTENTS:

• 6 M15x1.50 Drain Plugs


• 6 M15 Sealing Washers


• 1 M15x1.50 Threading Tap

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Determine the original thread size of the old oil pan plug by measuring the diameter of the old oil pan plug.


• Select the next size sump plug. Example: The diameter of the original plug is 14mm, and a plug with a size of 15mm is used.


• Try using the same pitch and compare the pitch of the old plug to the proper thread. For example: the original thread 1.50 uses a thread with a plug of 14mm x 1.50.


• Fill the threads of the plug with clean shaft/bearing grease.


• Use a suitable drive head to screw the threads into the oil pan.


• Once you start trimming the screw holes, continue to turn clockwise to slowly cut the thread with a motion turn and reverse (counter-clockwise) 1/4, this will help give a good full thread.


• After cutting, remove the faucet and clean it.


• Pour oil into the engine and plug the oil pan to flush out any metal debris that may have fallen into the engine.


• Install a suitable new oil pan plug and copper gasket and torque the vehicle.

Used to tap damaged threads and slightly increase the diameter of the drain hole, then install a new drain plug and washer. Ideal for repairing oil pans, transmissions, and differential drain plug threads.
