About SMX Offroad
Built by riders. Developed by engineers. Tested in the real world.
SMX Offroad wasn't created overnight.
In fact, the story began over 20 years before the business itself.
At just 18 years old, our founder Sam, opened his very first motorcycle trade account under the name SuperMotoX. Although life, family and an engineering career took him in a different direction, the ambition to build a motorcycle business never disappeared.
Over the next two decades, that passion only grew.
Thousands of hours were spent riding and racing motocross, enduro, hard enduro and supermoto, competing everywhere from local championships to iconic events such as Erzbergrodeo. Along the way came invaluable experience, lifelong friendships and relationships with some of the biggest names in the motorcycle industry.
In 2021, that original dream finally became reality.
SMX Offroad was launched from our family farm in rural Wales with just a £1,000 investment, a laptop and a simple goal:
To build the kind of motorcycle business we would want to buy from ourselves.
Today, SMX has grown into a global business supplying riders in over 100 countries with access to more than 100,000 products from over 200 leading motorcycle brands, alongside our own expanding range of SMX-designed products.
We're proud to be the exclusive UK distributor for several premium off-road brands while continuing to design, prototype and manufacture our own products using modern CAD software, 3D printing and real-world testing.
Although our product range has grown significantly, one thing has never changed.
We only sell products we believe in.
Many of the products we stock have been ridden, raced and tested by us in some of the toughest conditions imaginable—from the rocky climbs and forests of Wales to motocross tracks, enduro events and some of Europe's most demanding terrain.
Our workshop in Wales remains at the heart of everything we do.
Here we design new products, test new ideas, develop prototypes and continue improving the products we offer to riders around the world.
One thing we're particularly proud of is how we've grown.
Every step has been achieved organically.
We've never relied on paid advertising.
Instead, we've grown through customer recommendations, social media, genuine product knowledge and the trust of riders who continue to recommend SMX to their friends.
As we continue to grow, so does our ambition.
Our next chapter is the expanding world of adventure and rally riding, where we'll apply the same philosophy that has shaped SMX from the beginning:
